THE INFAMOUS TONAWANDA COKE CORPORATION

This watercolor landscape sets the scene for my new graphic novel, 'Bad Air'. To bring this story to life, I've been working with Jackie James, the woman who organized her neighborhood and used 'Citizen Science' to bring down a deeply criminal operation.  

After TCC went bankrupt and the smokestacks were demolished, the 87 acre site was sold to Ontario Specialty Contracting Inc., an organization that remediates contaminated properties around the nation. The owner, John Yensan, said it was the worst he's ever seen.
